Mission San Francisco Solano
Mission San Francisco Solano was founded on July 4, 1823 and named for a missionary to the Indians of Peru born in Montilla, Spain, known as the "Wonder Worker of the New World.". It is the northernmost Alta California mission (an attempt to found a twenty-second mission in Santa Rosa in 1827 was aborted).[2]

- 1823 - Father Jose Altimira founds the 5th mission on July 4 in honor of San Francisco Solano, missionary to Peruvian Indians.
- 1824 - The first church is dedicated.
- 1826 - An angry band storms the mission sand forces Father Jose Altimira to flee.
- 1827 - A larger church is completed to replace the smaller original one.
- 1834 - Secularized.
- 1845 - Governor Pico attempts to sell the mission, but no offers to buy are received.
- 1903 - Purchased by the Historical Landmark League.
- 1906 - The Great Quake badly damages the mission.
- 1913 - Restoration which began in 1911 is completed.
- 1838 - The church is razed.
- 1840 - The present chapel is built as the parish church for Sonoma.
